Overview: The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the construction of a fast-scanning multi-photon fluorescence microscope for biomedical imaging. This EPSRC funded post is available 01/06/18 to 31/05/2020. The successful applicant will be responsible for the construction and optical alignment of the microscope as well as the software control of the active optical elements used to obtain rapid three-dimensional scans of excitable cell networks.
You will work in the laboratory of Dr Alex Corbett, based in the Biomedical Physics Research Group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Biomedical Physics is home to over 40 postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers (http://emps.exeter.ac.uk/physics-astronomy/research/biomedical/staff/). The overarching aim of the project is utilise the new fast scan technology to image oblique sections through the heart of zebrafish embryos to identify inter-beat variability due to a range of cardiac pathologies and monitor their response to pharmacological interventions.
