The person will build-up and manage the newly created Advanced Light and Fluorescence Microscopy Facility (ALFM) at the Center for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB Campus Hamburg-Bahrenfeld). The ALFM currently comprises 10 microscopes in an S2 environment with SIM, GSD, confocal, live-cell and other fluorescence microscopes. The focus is on techniques to study the infection processes of pathogens and their effects on the host. Particular emphasis is placed on correlative cryo-microscopy using dedicated cryo-CLEM systems and a close connection to the CSSB cryo-EM facility. Proximity to DESY and European XFEL allows further correlation with structural biological methods.
