European Bioinformatics Institute, a part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL-EBI), in collaboration with Dundee University and the Euro-BioImaging infrastructure project, is launching BioImage Archive – a reference database of biological images of different scales – from molecules to whole organisms. In collaboration with Dundee University we have recently obtained funding from the Wellcome Trust to facilitate this development. We are now looking for a data scientist with experience in machine learning and image processing.
As the work on BioImage Archive project will be expanding at EMBL-EBI, the post will offer a personal scientific growth opportunity.
Your role
You will be a member of Brazma group at EMBL-EBI, but will work closely with Uhlmann and Sarkans groups, as well as with Swedlow’s group at Dundee University. You will also be working with the EMBL-EBI’s Training Team, as the developing a training material for utilising bioimage data and analysis methods is among the goals for the Wellcome Trust funding. The post is for 36 months.
You have
Knowledge of and experience with machine learning algorithms is expected.
An interest in science, and in particular in biology related problems.
The post holder must be a team player with good communication skills, but must be able to work independently.
