SUMMARY:SCANDEM 2018: The 69th Annual Conference of the Nordic Microscopy Society
DESCRIPTION:SCANDEM 2018: Technical University of Denmark\, Kgs. Lyngby\, Denmark\, 25th – 28th June 2018 \nIt is with great pleasure to announce that SCANDEM 2018 – The 69th Annual Conference of the Nordic Microscopy Society – will be held in at Technical University of Denmark Kgs. Lyngby from Monday 25th to Thursday 28th June 2018 (www.scandem2018.com). \nSCANDEM was founded in 1948. It has since then served as an active organization focusing on all aspects of and related to microscopy. These include the development of microscopic technology\, specimen preparation techniques and applications in materials and life sciences. Country members of SCANDEM are Sweden (the Society’s registration)\, Denmark\, Norway\, Finland and Iceland. In order to promote knowledge of microscopy in the region\, SCANDEM coordinates a number of activities\, including meetings\, courses and workshops. The society’s annual meeting/conference is organized by a local committee alternating between the Nordic countries. In 2018 it is Denmark’s turn to host the society’s annual conference. \nSCANDEM 2018 will focus on the following main topics within the field of nanoscale imaging research: \n\nIn Situ Electron Microscopy\nElectron Spectroscopy\nX-ray microscopy\nScanning Probe Microscopy\nCorrelative Light and Electron Microscopy\nImage and Data analysis\n\nOur goal is to create an interdisciplinary environment that can address key fundamental questions at the interface between physics\, chemistry\, biology\, materials science and engineering\, with strong impact on understanding materials on the nanometer scale. \nThe scientific program features two plenary lectures\, five keynote lectures\, and numerous presentations by conference participants in parallel sessions\, poster sessions and trade exhibition. \nMonday\, June 25 is dedicated to themed workshops including methodology and hardware demonstration and knowledge sharing. \n \n
